Certificate III in Youth & Community Work (Christian)

The Certificate III begins in Poatina, Tasmania in January with four weeks of intensive training including the week long Foundations Course. Students continue their training in one of Fusion’s Centres across Australia.
The course is designed for those who want to make a difference in their community. It exposes you to the values, understandings and more than 40 years of Fusion’s experience in innovative youth and community work.
The second half of the training conducted in a Fusion centre is very practically based with 3 days a week working in youth and community work and 2 days a week in a classroom situation.

Introduction to Helping People Grow
Introduction to the New Testament
Foundations short course:
Fusion’s one week training that introduces candidates on how to live an integrated lifestyle that enables you to be more aware of the world around you. (see separate brochure)

Introducing you to Fusion’s philosophy and practice of youth and community work that has been developed over the past 40 years.

Putting the values of the kingdom of God into practice and integrating biblical values into your life
Introduction to Helping People Grow:
Growing in awareness of both your behaviour and the behaviour of others and how to help others find there place in God’s kingdom
Teams:
How to work as an effective team member and work with others to build and sustain community
The Bible:
An overview of the Bible and a Biblical foundation for life and mission
Introduction to the New Testament:
In depth look at the gospel of Luke and the book of Acts.
Mission:
An introduction to an understanding of the church and its mission and strategies to reach out to young people.
Practical skills:
Skills in youth and community work to participate effectively in a Festival or event .
The Aims of the Training are:
To introduce you to youth work within the context of innovative community development theory and practice
To provide an opportunity for you to develop appropriate foundational knowledge and skill in a variety of youth and community work settings including:
Community centres
Festival Outreach
Schools Work
Youth Cafes
PYCO (Process of Youth Contact and Outreach)
Day trips
Café and community activities
To provide you with a comprehensive overview of work within legal and ethical frameworks; health, safety and security procedures; group activities and public events.
To provide you with skills and knowledge to participate, communicate and work effectively with young people.
To provide opportunity for personal and spiritual development through an introduction to classic inspiration literature.
Give you a clear understanding of workplace Occupational Health and Safety procedures
.Costs…
The costs vary from year to year and centre to centre, but are approximately $125 per week which includes course fees, rent and meals whilst you are in Poatina. However, a more accurate breakdown of costs is available upon request.
