Certificate IV in Youth & Community Work (Christian)

(Course Code: 69831)

The Certificate IV is an intensive residential course undertaken in Poatina, Tasmania.

There are intakes in January and July each year. In most cases the Certificate IV can be completed in 6 months, though for some people it is preferable to consider extending it over a 12-month period.

The method of study is classroom-based delivery with significant practical ‘fieldwork’ components throughout. The course is given a further practical edge by being undertaken while living in Poatina, an intentional Christian community that is intimately involved in both youth work and community development activities in Tasmania.

An outline of a fairly typical course arrangement is set out below. In addition to the week-by-week subjects there are also regular fieldtrips, fieldwork, a Group Life weekend.
