Diploma of Youth & Community Work (Christian)

(Course Code: 69832)

While the Certificate IV Course prepares a student to be a competent youth and community worker, the Diploma provides opportunity to develop skills which will enable him/her to develop and manage a significant project.

Having completed the Certificate IV course, students may choose to continue on and study toward the Diploma. The period of study for Diploma is usually 12-18 months but may be longer in some cases.

The method of study for the Diploma is strongly workplace based. Students accept a negotiated work placement at a Fusion centre somewhere in Australia.

Each student has a placement supervisor and participates in weekly Professional Integration Tutorials. Periodically (usually 4 times a year) students return to Poatina for periods of classroom based ‘intensives’. Assignment work is set and relates each unit studied during intensives to the work placement being undertaken.

The following areas of study are covered during the ‘intensives’.
