Trinity College belongs to a stream of education that, above all, wants to provide an environment of care, support and encouragement to its students. It is in this environment that students can investigate and rise to the challenge of knowing themselves and their place in the world. It is our hope that Trinity students will not only engage with their chosen subjects but will also begin to find answers to the important questions “Who am I?”, “What am I like?”, “What can I do?” and “What am I worth?”.
The college commenced operation in 2000. It is the second non-government college in Tasmania to offer only senior secondary education. The move into senior secondary education is an extension to Fusion Australia's already broad mission and ministry. Fusion Australia has been at the forefront of care for adolescents in Australia for four decades.
Fusion also has experience in post-secondary training, particularly in the area of Youth & Community Work and Media (with an emphasis on broadcasting). Fusion Australia is a Registered Training Organisation and is authorised to offer training and assessment services in areas as diverse as hospitality, horticulture and community services (youth work, community work, community housing) and we expect to expand this to include Media, Information Technology, and Metal Fabrication by the end of 2002.
As we considered the needs and opportunities of our young people, both in Tasmania and more widely, the establishment of Trinity College in the unique and supportive community of Poatina Village seemed right.
A young person coming into Trinity is fortunate. They will have a chance to develop values, skills and understandings that will give them the capacity to fulfil their potential and meet life's varied opportunities and challenges.
